STILL LIFE
"Here, facing the entrance inside the gallery, Simon Ward's huge and vividly explicit 'Still Life' images of dead animals demands instant attention. But they are not literal photographs. He places the dead animals onto his flatbed scanner and leaves them to be meticulously reproduced over the course of a day in what he describes as 'a single brushstroke of scanned light.' So sharp that every hair and whisker and the skin texture appear pulsating with life, or death, these images are aesthetically beautiful and memorable."
